The Role of Ultrasound in Endovenous RF Ablation of Varicose Veins
Pre-ablation ultrasound is a non-invasive, painless procedure used for evaluation of venous reflux. The technologist will pass a transducer over your legs using a gel to transmit the ultrasound. Superficial, deep and perforator veins will be evaluated for valvular incompetency, size, and absence of blood clot. The exam will take about 60 minutes per leg to perform.
Pacific Vascular, specialists in vascular ultrasound, will provide the ultrasound test at one of 18 convenient locations. A same-day preliminary report will be sent to your physician, with a formal report following after physician review and interpretation.
If you have reflux with symptoms, such as leg pain or swelling, then Avena Vascular will contact your insurance company for VNUS Closure procedure preauthorization. We will notify you of any necessary steps that are needed prior to the procedure.
